Here Are A Few Problems We See from DIY

You can actually do damage to your plumbing and drain pipes! The last thing that you want to do is have your clogged drain problem turn into a more expensive repair than necessary by creating more plumbing problems.

#1 Using Too Much Force

Using too much force when plunging can actually create an excessive amount of pressure which can crack a drain line or drain line connection or ruin the trap.

Plunging so fast and furious that dirty water is flying out of the toilet is a sure fire way to a much more difficult and expensive fix.

If you aren’t experienced with the plunger, make sure to fill the ball with water first and plunge very gently to begin with… another beginner step if you think a toilet is just clogged with toilet paper is to simply let it sit over night with a full bowl of water to see if gravity can do the job…

#2 Drain Cleaning Chemicals Are Harsh

If your go to drain cleaning tactic is a chemical every time this can lead to leaks and more expensive repairs over time as well.

Harsh chemicals can cause errosion and actually break the bond of joint sealer which will lead to leaky pipes. In fact some types of pipes should never have drain cleaning chemicals used in them at all.

A good rule of thumb is that if you aren’t sure, give us a call at Sewerheroes and we will always give you the best advice and let you know if we think you should plunge, use a chemical or call us in to sort the problem out for you.

#3 A Camera Inspection is Required

Particularly with sewer backups or drain blockages where you don’t know the cause, a camera inspection may be required to fully understand how to correct the clog.

Our camera inspection is a quick service that gives us all the information we need to understand what is clogging the drain and how far into the drain the clog has formed. With this information in hand, we know which tools to use to clear the blockage and prevent future problems.
